Updated on 29 September 2023

Granada-Jaén Federico García Lorca Airport (GRX) is named in honour of the famous Spanish poet. It has a single runway and opened in 1972.
It’s located in the municipality of Chauchina, next to the A92 motorway, the road that runs through the centre of Granada and connects it directly with Seville and Almería.
Connections
14 cities have direct flights to Granada airport: 6 in Spain and 8 abroad (London has flights from Granada at two different airports).

Transport
Right outside the airport you’ll find taxi ranks and bus stops. From here it’s very easy to get wherever you’re going.
The best way into Granada is the Alsa bus, which leaves from the airport car park, according to its website, half an hour after each flight lands. It’s bus number 245, and you’ll find it to the right as you leave the terminal, next to the taxis.
Here’s the route and timetable. A ticket costs €3 and you can buy it on the bus itself or on the Alsa website (enter «Aeropuerto Granada-Jaén» as your origin and «Estación autobuses Granada» or «Palacio Congresos Granada» as your destination).
You can also take a taxi from the rank outside the airport (around €35) or order an Uber (between €25 and €34).
Once you reach Granada (either the bus station or the Palacio de Congresos), the best way to get around is the city bus service, which will take you to almost any corner of the city.

Services
Granada-Jaén airport offers a range of services.
In the arrivals and departures halls you’ll find car hire desks, airport information and lost property, cash machines, a tourist information office covering both Granada and Jaén and a café.
Once you’re in the departures area, there’s a restaurant and a children’s play area to make the wait more bearable, as well as duty free shops, where you can make big savings on leading brands of perfume, drinks, tobacco, food and souvenirs.
If you still have questions about the airport, there’s the Aena website and its information phone line.
Car hire
In the airport halls you’ll find 2 car hire companies: Avis and OKRentACar, both offering discounts if you book online. For around €27 a day you can book a medium-sized car, more than enough for getting around Granada. But remember that most of the city of Granada is closed to traffic, so if you’re visiting the historic centre we’d always recommend public transport.
